Termidesk Connect 1.4 adds HA-cluster upgrades without service interruption
Termidesk Connect 1.4 introduces HA session synchronisation, Connect Manager, consistent hashing, and richer application health checks.
Uveon Cloud Technologies has released Termidesk Connect 1.4. The load-balancer update expands global traffic management, HA-cluster maintenance, and centralised administration of distributed infrastructure.
Key changes
Nodes in a high-availability configuration can now synchronise user sessions. This enables sequential maintenance and upgrades without forcing users to reconnect to published services.
Layer-7 balancing gains several consistent-hashing variants. When pool membership changes, the algorithm is intended to reduce the number of requests reassigned to different servers. This is useful for caches and applications sensitive to a change of serving node.
The GSLB module adds manual DNS-zone editing, more DNS record types, and improved GeoIP handling. HTTP and HTTPS health checks can use OPTIONS, send a request body, and evaluate the response with a regular expression, helping distinguish an open port from a functioning application.
The release also introduces Termidesk Connect Manager for configuration visualisation, statistics, and multi-device administration. Other additions include SNMP traps, LLDP, VRF isolation, asymmetric routing, and wider TLS and TCP controls.
What a pilot should prove
- Do active sessions survive a real rolling upgrade?
- How does GSLB react to DNS or inter-site connectivity failure?
- How quickly does an application-aware health check remove a faulty node?
- Which Manager actions are centralised, and how are they audited?
- Are TLS profiles and persistence compatible with the target application?
- Can the previous configuration be restored without manual reconstruction?
Limits of the release information
The functions are vendor-described and do not independently guarantee zero downtime for every topology. Results depend on the application, session lifetime, DNS design, and network state. A production-like rolling-upgrade exercise remains essential.
