Tantor Labs releases Tantor 7 with PostgreSQL monitoring and diagnostics
Tantor 7 introduces PostgreSQL instance diagnostics, health scoring, adaptive checks, and contextual recommendations for administrators.
Tantor Labs has released version 7 of its PostgreSQL infrastructure-management platform. The update focuses on instance diagnostics, health assessment, and recommendations for database administrators.
What Tantor 7 adds
The platform collects operational metrics from selected instances and clusters, analyses them during a maintenance window, and produces recommendations. Check frequency is adaptive: diagnosis runs more often when problems are detected and less often for stable systems.
Each instance receives a health score from 1 to 100 with an explanation of penalty points. Administrators can see the previous and next diagnostic times, start a quick check, and inspect recommendations for an instance, tenant, or the overall environment.
Configuration history can now be filtered by user, node, and date. A rollback can target an individual cluster node. The former limit of 15 simultaneously monitored databases has been removed, while bulk monitoring activation and CSV export have been added.
Questions for a production pilot
- Which telemetry is collected, and where is it retained?
- How are recommendations validated in a test environment?
- What overhead does diagnosis add under representative load?
- Who can initiate checks or apply configuration changes?
- How does the health score relate to the team’s existing SLI and SLO model?
- Can selected analysis types be disabled for sensitive systems?
An automated recommendation should not become an immediate production change. Safe operation still needs administrator approval, an audit trail, and a verified rollback path.
Limits of the announcement
The capabilities are described by the vendor. The public release does not contain independent comparative testing, workload-specific overhead measurements, or recommendation-accuracy data. Those properties require validation on the customer’s own data and a production-like environment.
